Partly built in
LightCraft metadata reaches Lightroom, but its edits don't yet.
LightCraft writes standard XMP sidecars, so ratings, labels, keywords, titles and captions can travel to Lightroom Classic. Its develop settings are stored in LightCraft's own format, which Lightroom doesn't read.
Partly compatible
Partly built in: metadata travels by XMP, develop settings don't yet.
No upload, no conversion. Here is how to do it, and what to check.
What carries over
- Star ratings and colour labels
- Titles, captions and copyright
- Keywords
- Capture time and GPS
How to move it
In LightCraft turn on File ▸ Automatically Write Changes into XMP, or choose Photo ▸ Save Metadata to File (⌘S). In Lightroom Classic select the photos and choose Metadata ▸ Read Metadata from File, or import the folder.
Worth knowing
Develop settings: LightCraft doesn't write Adobe's develop fields, so your edits won't appear in Lightroom. To keep a finished look, export the edited photos as full-size TIFF or JPEG.
Pick and reject flags are LightCraft-only and don't travel. This is the gap a converter could close, and the one we'd build next.
Questions
Will my edits appear in Lightroom?
Not yet. Ratings, labels, keywords and captions will; the develop settings stay in LightCraft.
Will my keywords keep their hierarchy?
No: LightCraft writes flat keywords.
Are my photos touched?
No. Only the .xmp files next to them are written.
