FilmCraft.fcproj Premiere Pro.prproj Built in

FilmCraft edits open directly in Premiere Pro.

No converter needed for the edit itself. FilmCraft exports Final Cut Pro XML and AAF, and Premiere Pro imports both.

Already compatible

Built into FilmCraft: export XML or AAF, Premiere imports it. Nothing to convert.

No upload, no conversion. Here is how to do it, and what to check.

What carries over

  • Nested sequences
  • Transitions and generators
  • Motion and Opacity, with keyframes
  • Time remapping
  • Audio levels, with keyframes

How to send it

In FilmCraft export the sequence as Final Cut Pro XML (or AAF). In Premiere Pro choose File ▸ Import and pick the file.

Worth knowing

Anything beyond that list, such as many effects and titles, may not come across. Check the sequence after importing.

FilmCraft can't write a Premiere project (.prproj); the XML or AAF route is the supported one. Your media stays where it is: relink it in Premiere if it shows as offline.

Questions

XML or AAF?

XML is the usual route for cuts, transitions, motion and levels. AAF suits sending the edit to audio or finishing tools.

Will my effects survive?

Those FilmCraft shares with Premiere may; the rest won't. Check the sequence.

Do I need Premiere to export?

No. Export from FilmCraft; Premiere is only needed to open the result.
